“Amy and Sarah were truly angels in human form that God sent for me and my husband during the birth process of our first child. They physically and emotionally supported us during my labor- arriving at the hospital at 11 at night, literally holding me up while I labored with sciatic pain and transition type contractions until 7 that morning. They coached me gently on different positions, they helped me walk across the room, move onto the bed, (Amy literally became a bed for me at one point) and reassured my husband that he could take a nap while they took care of things. They lovingly spoke positive affirmations into my ear throughout the whole night, helping my brain try its best to relax and breathe. In the morning, when we learned I hadn’t progressed very much at all, they supported me with my decision of having an epidural and helped coach me on pushing when the time came. However, due to several factors later that morning, including baby’s heart rate decelerating, it was decided that a c-section was going to the best choice to keep me and baby safe. Amy and Sarah continued talking with us, encouraged us, prayed with us, and made me and my husband feel at peace with this decision. In fact, my doctor was so impressed with their dedication to us that whole night that he let them back in the operating room and allowed them to witness the c-sections They even got a selfie with him!

Amy and Sarah got some amazing documentation of the whole night and morning and it was amazing seeing the pictures afterwards. They rejoiced with us at the birth of our baby girl and stayed with us for several hours after the birth, to make sure my husband and I were okay, taken care of and supported. And after the birth, they continue to check up on us and give us so much advice, support and love. Amy made me a salve for my c-section scar and they presented us with the most beautiful and delicious fruit pizza at our postpartum visit! We cannot recommend Amy and Sarah highly enough. They are amazing and so loving and make sure you are taken care of. Our birth experience would not be the same without them - they provided so much support and love at one of the most vulnerable times of my life. My husband and I are so incredibly grateful for all they did for us and all the care they continue to give. God bless them and all their beautiful work they do in supporting mamas and their families everywhere!”

“I initially wanted a doula because I thought I had to have one to get through a natural delivery. I’m so thankful Sarah was recommenced to me from a family member. Before I even booked Sarah or committed, she spent so much time answering questions, texting me, and taking phone calls to help guide me through the start of my first home birth process. Throughout my pregnancy she supported and prayed for me and my sweet baby, always available for a text or call. I didn’t have to worry about anything or anyone during labor.. Sarah helped communicate with everyone, including midwives. She physically supported me with labor and made sure I was staying hydrated and eating. One way I feel like she went above and beyond was going next door to tell my waiting family and two daughters that the baby was here and helped them meet her just like how I had imagined. I didn’t have to worry about a thing! That post baby birth cake was just what I needed also, ha! I learned that doulas aren’t someone that you have to have during labor… but I sure wouldn’t want to do it without them! I would absolutely recommend Birth and Beyond KC to anyone in the area.”

“Sarah was such a blessing to have at the birth of my son. I labored at home for the majority of the time before heading to the birth center and Sarah was sending us all kinds of recommendations of what to do. She was so prompt in responding and gave us some really amazing things to try and relieve some of the pressure. Once we were admitted, she took over with the counter pressure and was an overwhelmingly calm presence. She said encouraging words, reminded me to breathe and lean into the progress I was making, and made the whole experience go smoothly. Again, having Sarah there to support us during labor and birth was a huge blessing. I’m forever grateful for the guidance and expertise!”

“We needed to be induced, and when the Cytotec contractions kicked in at 10pm they were intense and frequent. I tried my best to help my wife through her contractions, but in truth I was overwhelmed by their ferocity and relentlessness. We called Sarah and Amy, who came immediately, and they helped soothe and coach my wife through each contraction. I was so relieved and grateful. With the 3 of us helping my wife, I thought it best to try to get a small nap in, and I woke up to a completely different situation: the contractions were still intense and happening every minute, but they had helped my wife to relax through them. This was only the beginning of a very long, very intense labor, which ultimately resulted in a c-section and a happy healthy baby girl (and mom!), and Sarah and Amy were with us through every step of the way, giving us advice, explaining things, advocating for us, and helping us navigate a very complex birth. My wife and I still refer to them as our birth angels. Not to mention the pre and postpartum visits, the 24/7 text help and advice, the delicious fruit pizza, etc!”
